Addendum

Dear Anonymous:
Who are you? Why don't you tell me who you are? Posting snotty comments without a signature is chicken. This blog is about my own personal pondering. My blog is called Coffee on a Soapbox for a reason. Most of my friends find it enjoyable to laugh AT me and WITH me about my ranting. If you want to question my spelling and critique my personal thoughts the least you can do is tell me who you are. If not I can just keep standing on my soapbox.

*Please don't interpret my last post to mean I hate my job. Sometimes people are just hard for me to handle. I guess it comes back to a previous post about my emotional state. If anything Starbucks encourages my strengths and chips away at my weaknesses. To tell you the truth I almost didn't publish my "just" post, however I like my blog to show my true self, not just a rose color picture of my life.

Just nothing

Don't slap me in the face and call my job "just". I have a drive through window in my store. I have a love/hate relationship with it. Mostly it bugs me because most people act like complete jerks. They make faces at you, take twice as long to order, and mostly forget that you're still a person, not just some machine. Other than the impatience of people that can't take the time to get out of their car, my biggest pet peeve is the word "just".

"Can I just get a Mocha."

When did my job as a barista become so insignificant that it's easy enough to "just" get a mocha. Am I a cappuccino machine in a gas station that lets coffee sit in a carafe all day and get stale. Some people are really rude and order "just a Mocha, single, 3 pumps, half caf, extra whip". At this point I want to tell them that all day we have toiled cleaning, measuring, stocking, and listening to timers go off every 10 mins just to make you ONE drink. Truth be told one drink isn't a big deal and it is what I am there for. But I consider what I do an art and a commitment, and even a talent. In my world a latte is equivalent to a hour long session with your therapist. Would you call your doctor and say, "Can you just listen to me for the hundredth time."

It's not only people in the drive through, I use to get so mad when my loan officers use say the same thing. "Liz can you just..." What I hear is "Liz, I don't know, and I don't care what your job is, but I need something now and I want it done fast."

People like to use it other ways too. Common with college people: "I just want to get married" or "just want to pass this class"

Here's a thought. Other than you have the money to buy that mocha, what gave you to right to think that I owe you a mocha, or to priorize your loan over the other people that have been waiting patiencenly. And last time I checked God didn't guarentee marriage or A's in college.

Some times things work

My car makes noises. I take better care of my car than my body, but then again my body can actually fix itself to a point. (God is a much better designer than man.) Despite that, I don't take great care of my car. For almost a year my car has been make a clicking noise when I turn. Today I finally had time and money to take it in. Sitting in the waiting room is worse than waiting for a shot. I detest needles, but at least as I'm trying not to faint, I can tell myself what is happening is going to make my life better. When I'm sitting in the waiting room at the car dealership, all I could of think of was "stupid car, stupid car". I was dreading my bill, especially because I have put off fixing the clicking sound. Turns out this fix is cheaper than anything else I've had to fix with my car and on top of that I can get the other couple of things that aren't necessary fixed too!!! I like my car, but in general I hate that they are a necessary evil.

So now
My car will work
The sun is shinning
I have new cute shoes
I get to go home for Easter
My prof got replaced with one I've had and liked before
I checked out some cool music for free from the library
My overwhelmed feeling is gone

Whelmed?

"I know you can be overwhelmed and I know you can be underwhelmed, but can you be just whelmed?" 10 Things I hate about you

I'm overwhelmed. I need a break. I have two days off from work in a row and I need it. My house is a mess (including my room), I'm starting a new class this week and I've heard the teacher is horrible and not only that it's the last class I think I'm going to get through easily. After this class I have Literature and then Math and Science!!!!! HELP!!! I was contemplating staying in school for a full 4 year degree, but after this last class and the coming classes I just don't know if I can continue. Work is good, although my store is losing 2 shift managers and we are only replacing one of them, so that means more hours. Good for paycheck, bad for my overwhelmed feeling.

Let me focus on some good things.
Josh Groban and Micheal Buble are going to be on American Idol
I got an A on my last paper that I spent way too much time worry about
The weather is so spring here, I love the change in seasons
My niece is so much fun
Coffee makes me happy

I think I'm a healthy worrier. Most of the time I think I can worry then turn it off as long as I can walk away from whatever is worrying. If school is driving me crazy I can take a break and not think about it. But at the same time if I am worrying about something, I get a little to much bent out of shape. I think it has something to do with my emotional state. I like to be emotional. I like to cry, laugh, get mad even, at the moment those emotions are important to me. So if I'm right about my healthy emotional state, this overwhelmed feeling will go away soon.
